School buildings are getting smarter by using technology and improving staff training

District leaders have increased the efficiency of school operations by harnessing new technologies to develop smart school buildings that are safer and more efficient. As the world becomes increasingly connected, school district leaders are finding that investments in cutting-edge technology result in long-term cost savings.

But no single smart school building technology can solve all issues, says Michelle Bradley, superintendent of schools at Lockport City School District in upstate New York. For success, district leaders must also have highly trained staff and clear, open communication with students, parents, teachers and communities.
